Nat Turner stood up against one of the most immoral systems in American history: slavery.
Slavery was justified through racism, fear, propaganda, and media manipulation.
The criminalization of drug use was built the same way.
NTR believes history will eventually judge drug criminalization the same way society now judges slavery — as an immoral system built on fear, misinformation, and human suffering.
Our Purpose: Save Lives by removing historically harmful laws to our communities of color.
What NTR does, in a nutshell.
Like the original Nat Turner Revolution, ours is a struggle of opposed people taking action. Unlike that revolution, ours is completely nonviolent. We use the Biblical tenets described in Matthew 25:40. Indeed, instead of breaking the law, we mean to use the law—if it comes to that.
At the heart of our struggle is a law. The Controlled Substance Act of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970. In short, the CSA. This foul law powers our country’s endless War on Drugs. The CSA stands on false fears and evil propaganda. Nothing else.
We believe if we put the plain facts and watertight arguments before our people, they won’t let this law stand a moment longer.
How we will do it.
Once that harmful law is removed, the next demand is that the government carry out the second part of our agenda, which is centered around free clinical distribution of drugs under monitored oversight. That’s the only effective and moral strategy for helping people emotionally and chemically dependent on drugs. Locking them up doesn’t help anyone. It only hurts. Them. And us. (Source: xxxx)
To tell the truth to our people, to turn their fear into care, we’ve prepared eight indictments against our Members of Congress. Because they could’ve and should’ve scrapped the CSA long ago, and ensured the benefits of scrapping it went to all of us, especially those abused by the law.
As the eight indictments show, every American is harmed, one way or the other, by the CSA. And every American will gain, one way or the other, when the resources currently wasted on fighting our fellow citizens are used for the good of our people. So, we believe once the people know what’s in it for them, they’ll compel their elected representatives to act.
Falsehood and hateful propaganda have kept the CSA in our books and on our backs for so long. To rid us of it, we must bring our people the message of truth and love.
That’s why my colleagues and I have put together a detailed plan that uses the latest and smartest tools of persuasion to engage our nation in a dialogue for change.
What’s more, all sorts of partners will benefit by participating in this plan. Whether you’re a nonprofit foundation or a for-profit corporation, our plan offers you multiple ways of reaching your target audience and forwarding your agenda. Your participation will also make our movement self-sustaining. That’s why we’re very keen to discuss the details with you as soon as possible.
